so some of my friends have asked me why i'm rooting for Barack Obama instead of Hillary Clinton and i decided to write a blog on why he's got my vote... and no, its not just because he's black, haha
disclaimer: some of these are obviously silly reasons, please don't take me too seriously...
1) i like his stance on issues i feel are important
2) he doesnt take money from big corporations with the promise that when he's in office he'll do something to benefit them (cough cough hillary)
3) seriously, its worse enough turning on the news and seeing this:
why not be able to turn on the tv and see this?
..i'm just saying, haha
4) i love his honest and sincere feelings on wanting a common good for everyone...rather than focusing on one race, gender, or group of people, he wants everyone to be able to have the same great opportunities and quality of life
4) this isnt really a reason, but i thought i should just put this out there, because it's a concern and fear, that shouldn't be: barack obama, is not, i repeat, is not a muslim...not that religion should matter, but for some reason people are concerned that his religious views will some how affect the war on iraq, etc... barack obama's kenyan father (who he barely knew) was a muslim, yet later became an athiest... and obama has been a member of the same christian church for over 20 years....
and how do i know this? believe it or not i read, i've read both of his bestselling books, Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance, and The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream...
so there you have it...and this topic isnt addressing any one person in particular...i just keep hearing it over and over again, simply because of a false rumor
5) on a less serious note, and i mean not even remotely serious, or important...hillary clinton's smile is scary...she looks like she'd eat my children..
once again, it would be so much better to turn on the news and see this...
but that's my take on this upcoming election...and i hope that everyone makes informed decisions, and doesn't vote on someone simply because of their race, gender, or simply because "so-and-so" told them to.
